A flock of locals

Because I am who I am, I decided this morning that I needed to make something to give to family on Christmas day.  We no longer give gifts, but something little and hand made can easily be given.
I decided to make some needlefelted birds and have made three, but my little fingers are a bit sore from being poked, so I'll make three more tomorrow.
Here are my little birdies, which are all based on birds I can see in my garden.

The one at top left is a Thornbill, the top right is a flame robin and the bottom one is a blue wren.  They do not have eyes yet and I think the robin needs a little adjustment, but they are cute.
Here they are standing up. I still think the robin looks a bit like a duck, but oh well.

Happy Creating!

another metal ATC and my doodled bird in progress

Today's ATC is another embossed foil one, a leaf, which I have painted with nail polish.  It is sewn onto some more of my collage background with chain stitch and french knots and bound with organza ribbon.

some of you probably remember this bird from one of my artbooks.
I actually have a small quilt in process using this design.
here it is with the outline quilting done
and a close up
I have now started the doodling in the feathers
I am really enjoying doing this ddodling and have been practising lots of doodles in my quilting scrapbook
Here's a close up.  I think I need to go over the stitching more than once as it is such a thin thread and I'm sure there will be some scope for beading when it is done.

Happy stitching, don't forget to check out Lisa's ATC and the TAST page

for the market

little birdies having a little chat on my work table prior to going to market on sunday.
These little birdies were made using a modified form of  a bird design by Terry Grant on Quilting Arts TV 710.  (See more of Terr's work on the 12 x 12 site by clicking their icon in my side bar)
You know I can never stick to a pattern or a technique without thinking what if?
One major difference is that they were done entirely by hand!
This is the second batch I have made for our local quilting group's fundraising stall.  They were so popular I had to make more!
