T for teapot

Today's contribution to T for Tuesday, is an old teapot I picked up at a market a while ago.
It is quite old, probably from the turn of the 20th century, going by the silver mark on the base and was made in England.   It has lost it's lid and is misshapen and very tarnished, but I love it and will probably not clean it up at all.
I love these beautiful lily of the valley flowers that are carved(?) on the side.
And these gorgeous flourishes on the handle!

I have not yet sketched it, but I will, soon.

Happy creating!

  1. Ah yes, it IS gorgeous. I love those old grungy pieces that have a lot of history. I wonder if the lilies of the valley were soldered on the pot and any indication of it has worn away. Of course, that's just a guess, since I would have to examine the pot to learn more about it. But it is lovely, regardless. I look forward to seeing a sketch of it, too.

Thanks for sharing this bit of history with us during T today. And thanks for removing word verification. You have NO idea how much appreciated that is.

  11. Cool teapot. I guess you don't need the lid since it won't be used. Can't wait to see the sketch.
Too bad I missed T for Tuesday. I had a tea cup repeat pattern all done but I couldn't create the swatch for it. : ( Will try to join you all next Tuesday.
